Young Leaders Visit President Kufour

As part of our initiative to promote inter-generational dialogue between young leaders and statesmen, participants in our Young Leaders Programme paid a courtesy call on former President J.A. Kufour. The visit was to afford the young leaders to interact with the president and lead from his rich experience.

2017 Young Leaders Programme Begins with 23 Young Leaders

After a rigorous selection process, we welcomed successful applicants of the 2017 Young Leaders Program (YLP) (formerly Youth Leadership Training Program). The YLP which is in its 14th year provides world class leadership training and grooming for young leaders drawn from the Ghana Trades Union Congress, Progressive Peoples Party, National Democratic Congress, New Patriotic Party, Convention People's Party and the People's National Convention. Others include the National Union of Ghana Students, Ghana National Union of Polytechnic Students, National Youth Authority, Centre for Development Research and Advocacy and Global Youth Focus.

Presidential Youth Dialogue

You-net facilitated the maiden President’s Youth Dialogue in partnership with the National Youth Authority and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The dialogue brought together young leaders from across Ghana who met and had a discussion with the President on issues affecting youth development in Ghana.

The dialogue afforded the youth the opportunity to foster a closer partnership with government to promote youth development.

You-net calls on government to implement policies and programmes to empower the youth for national development

August 11, 2017 ACCRA, GHANA -Youth Network for Human Rights and Democracy (Younet) congratulates all Ghanaian youth on the occasion of International Youth Day, 2017. It is refreshing to note that in spite of the various challenges confronting the youth and youth-led organizations, they remain resolute in their efforts to make life better for themselves and contribute to building a better society.

You-net equally commends the Government of Ghana, Development Partners and other stakeholders for their support to youth development.

While this year’s International Youth Day presents another opportunity to celebrate our youth and their contributions to national development, it also offers us the opportunity to reflect on the challenges confronting youth development in Ghana.
